Q&A: What is the quickest free way to get your website on the search engines?

by tyankee7 on July 25, 2012

Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

Question by trc_biz: What is the quickest free way to get your website on the search engines?
I have been submitting my site for free for 3 weeks now and have seen no promotion at all.
I have also been advertising on different free classifieds.
what else can I do?

Any SEO book will tell you that it takes time for SEO to become apparently effective. Affiliate your site with more sites such as a web-ring or link exchange. Also the use of blogs works particularly well (writing content for your website makes it more visible and more appealing to the end user). The blog of choice I’d use is Blogger for obvious reasons. Blogger is owned by Google and updates its search index faster for its own services. Youtube, Google Video, Myspace, Facebook are other avenues for free advertising. But be warned again, SEO is not a quick fix, rather it should be a long and calculated plan. ‘

Submissions into databases sometimes takes months, as is the case for yahoo. You should also narrow your focus on a select set of keywords. Make sure your metatags are placed correctly (although modern search engines do not nearly place as much emphasis on these over content) and fill out every alt=”” attribute tag on every picture and same goes for links, they have attributes that are able to add descriptive metadata. Search engines love these tidbits of information.

This can answer can literally turn into an entire book so I hope this helps and message me if you have any more questions.

Submitting your site for 3 weeks is something you don’t want to do. You only need to submit one time. First approach is to make sure your site is optimized for your service or products. The next approach is to build links. The search engines look at links as a measure of website authority. Some people say that you need to build thousands of links, but this is not true. Relevant links is the answer. There are some websites that rank on Page 1 and 2 of the major search engines and they only have two links. These are the two most important steps you need to take in order to have the search engines notice you.

I know that if you submit your website to:

http://www.hengine.org/

Considering that your website is of quality then it’ll get indexed pretty quickly.

Good Luck!
