Q&A: A good name for a free classifieds website?

by tyankee7 on January 11, 2012

Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

As you probably know, you should first check to make sure there is a “.com” domain name (URL) for the name you choose. In fact, I would look for the domain name first, e.g., on GoDaddy.com, and name your site based on the domain name you select.

It’s almost always better to obtain a “.com” URL, unless you find an incredibly cool name with a .net or .biz. Check to see if the .com name is functioning, if it’s not, it might not be as bad to buy the .net or .biz or the .us (del.icio.us did pretty well with .us 😉

Easy to remember; simple to spell; and as short as possible are the other things to look for in your URL.

I hope this helps.
