How do websites that offer free classifieds make money?

Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

Advertisement. They make money from advertisement. The more people visit the site, the more they get paid.

If you think they are going to spam you, use a web-based e-mail account that is free…yahoo, hotmail, etc. Usually websites that offer free classifieds get their money from sponsors who advertise on their sites.

They use advertisements on their sites and the advertisers pay a certain amount for each hit that originates from the original website. Also, the websites often do sell your Email address to their partners, resulting in a lot of unsolicited Email (SPAM).

Some will spam you – I recommend creating an email account designed just for use with sites that require an email for activation. Yahoo lets you create free email accounts, so make another one that you only use online.
Some sites, on the other hand, make revenue from advertising. Either way, I recommend a new e-mail that you don’t care if it gets spammed.
