Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

Question by vince: What is the best form of free advertising other than word of mouth?
I am starting up a handyman style business and I also do some interior design / kitchen planning. What is the best form of free or minimal cost advertising.

PR. Come up with something that you can get a newspaper story about you and I don’t mean rob a bank. That is the wrong kind of PR. Teach a handyman class for seniors or women for free at the YMCA or library. Send out a press release.

See if the local paper wants a weekly ask the handyman column. Write a couple of articles to show them what you can do. The small “free” papers are probably easier to start with.

Signs I would think.Big ones, little ones, anywhere and every where they will allow you to have them. You might even ask at all the hard ware stores in your area.Alot may say no but a few may say yes and i would think that would be an awesome place to have a small poster taped up (un-less you can come up with better than a poster).Business cards aren’t free but they’re worth the cost I think.Give some to friends so if they run across someone in need………Find every bulletin board in your area and put a couple on each.also some privately owned convenience stores might let you leave some on their counter. How about real estate agents? You’ll have better luck with businesses if you licensed and bonded(so the wouldn’t be liable).Do you attend a church many of them have a business directory of members for members. On this line if you are a christian business then many communities have a local directory(maybe contact your local chapter of;Christian Business Men Association).O-kay I’m winding down now.
Good luck !

Perhaps put up a sign at the furniture stores in your area with coupons for design discounts, donate some time to your church in exchange for their word of mouth… Good luck!

I would recommend posting to Craigslist. It is free and it gets a lot of visitors per day.
