Q&A: What are some free, or cheap, methods of advertising?

Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

Question by Angelo Vignaroli: What are some free, or cheap, methods of advertising?
I’m starting a business and this business requires I advertise my service to others. My service is computer repair and is only available in my city. I need advertising techniques that are free or do not cost much. Obviously free advertisements do not cost money, but if you suggest a method that requires money, please tell me of what it might cost.

There are so many free ways to get traffic. But you have to take into consideration this:

Money: Less Time
Free: More Time

If you don’t want to spend much money, then you have to spend your time writing articles about computers and putting your link in the author box, writing forum and blog comments in high traffic blogs and forums, and getting high traffic blogs to advertise for you (You can either pay them or write content for them, in exchange for exposure).

This was only to get you to understand that you can eitherput time or money in it, but I hope it has helped you.

Design a flyer (2 cents each or less to copy) and go to businesses and hand it out. Make your mom and dad take them to work and pass them out.

Design a web site and use techniques to make sure it ranks high on search engines.

Email all your friends and ask them to pass your name around at their work/church/playground.

You have a great opportunity to advertise to your city, especially if computer services are in lack of supply, there will be more demand. In this case, word of mouth is a really effective way to get your business noticed. So spread the word, You fix a computer and you tell your customers that can get a discount if they refer your services to their friends. You can make “no cost” flyers that you can hang in computer shops, coffee shops and where ever people who use computers may be. The initial part of getting your business out there is going to be the hard part but after that things will flow a lot easier for you. Good luck
