Q&A: Free Advertising?

by tyankee7 on March 6, 2012

Post your WANT. It’s like Craigslist, but reversed. And really different. At Ubokia, you’re the rockstar. Post exactly what you want and sellers respond to you. Only talk to sellers you choose.

Exactly where can you article commercials to your website for totally free? I choose lookup engines where I can set it up. Any person?

I’ll answer your question with another question: Why would you want to advertise someplace where anyone can advertise for free? Won’t your ad get lost in a sea of ads that anyone and everyone has posted simply because it’s free?

I know that my question does not answer your question directly, so here are a couple ideas:

Blogger – By blogging on your area of expertise, you are advertising yourself, and you can easily point visitors to the appropriate portions of your website as you write.

MySpace – Don’t spam, but create an interesting and relevant site that will get hits. Be descriptive and informative. Once again, you can drive visitors to your website. If you are a musician, this is a no-brainer. Just about every musician has a myspace page, and I have discovered a number of excellent musicians through Myspace.

Linkedin.com – Here you can network and build connections, as well as post a link to your website.

Facebook – I have not used Facebook, but it’s sort of like Myspace, but less flashy.

Various newsgroups and bulletin boards – Do searches and find communities that relate to your area of expertise. You have to be careful on these not to sell yourself blatantly. But if you contribute to discussions in meaningful and helpful ways, you can often gain a reputation and people will contact you for more information.

None of these are places where you can post a banner ad for free. That’s going to be tough to come by, except for maybe a link exchange in which you let somebody else advertise on your site for free, and they do the same for you. But there is more to marketing than just posting ads.

Good luck!
